Beat the Heat With Smart & Final and You Can Win a $500 Gift Card!!!

Beat the Heat with Smart & Final and WIN $$$$$!!

If you have been outside lately you know how HOT it is!! Not only is it hot here in CA the area that I live in is smoky outside.

If you are looking for ways to Beat the Heat- Smart & Final has many options for you.

Here are some great ways we have been Beating this CA heat and also how YOU can win $500 from Smart & Final!

Snow Cones
Smart & Final First Street brand has a wonderful variety of syrups to make snow cones with. This is a VERY budget friendly snack/dessert. We bought a snow cone maker for less than $25 and we have been making snow cones almost daily and these syrups really go far- and the only other ingredient you need is ICE!!

Indoor Movie Night
It is too smoky outside for a movie night here, but we have had some fun coming up with snacks.

We grabbed some First Street Microwave Popcorn
Peanuts
M&Ms
Pretzels

We mixed them all together and it was enough for a bowl for everyone and way more fun than just popcorn! We used paper bowls and it was easily made (no cooking except the microwave) and these ingredients lasted us 4 Friday nights so it was enough for the whole month to feed all the kids a fun snack experience!

Smoothies

Smart & Final has large bags of First Street frozen fruit for smoothies!
Large bags of Strawberries, Blueberries, Pineapple, Mango, Mixed Berries too!
We use either Vanilla Almond Milk, Orange Juice, or Sun Harvest Coconut Water for the liquid!
I always add a handful of spinach because it doesn’t change the flavor and it gets all of us to get some veggies in while we are refreshed by a delicious smoothie!

How are YOU Beating the Heat???
This month if you share your Beat the Heat ideas with Smart & Final you can win $500!!

What is Your Snack Hack ? 3 Tips For the Week + Enter to Win $25 from Smart & Final!

How are you all doing?? We are over here starting a new week of  our quarantine lifestyle!!
So how do you stay on a budget, feed your family at home, not get tired of eating the same things, AND stay on a budget??  Well I have some ideas and tips for you this month!! PLUS Smart & Final is giving YOU the opportunity to win a $25 Gift Card EVERY WEEK through the month of April!!

All you have to do is participate in their Snack Hack Posts in their Instagram stories!! Easy Right?
I just posted mine!

Here are 3 tips this week to make things a little easier on your self, your budget, and possibly more fun!

Tip #1
Make meals out of what you have already! You may not be able to make a full on fancy meal, but I have found that by using some items I have on hand I have made some items that the kids really like!
I had a can of First Street Chili (no beans) in the pantry and I had a bag of frozen fries in the freezer!
Made my kids chili cheese fries and they were SO HAPPY! Definitely not a meal I would have planned-but it is something my kids would have wanted to run through a drive-thru and buy (So I REALLY saved some money too!) Easy clean up too!

Tip #2
Make a Menu With What You Have
By making a menu of your meals, snack and desserts- and using tip #1 you can plan your meals out and stretch out the length between grocery store trips- then just shop for the items you may need to use up what you have.

Tip #3
Get Your Family Involved!
When this whole thing started I planned these great meals and we had big dinners every night and it was great, but then…
-we got tired of cleaning for an hour after dinner
-we weren’t as hungry for dinner because activity levels are lower
-we got tired of eating our usual dinners

When my kids started saying what they would like to eat, it made them willing to help cook and clean. When they saw we had fries and chili- they were happy because they like to eat those items from fast food restaurants. This made them think about what other foods they missed and we started using what we had to create a variety of items that were FUN and different.

Smart & Final Stores Studio 40 Live Videos

Ready For Halloween?? Smart & Final Can Help + My Studio 40 Live Segment!!!

If you tuned in to my Studio 40 Live segment (will post the video as it comes available) everything I displayed today was from Smart & Final. I love shopping there because I can buy larger bulk sizes-plus smaller sizes of regular grocery items I need for home. It is a great one-stop shopping trip when I go there. I was amazed at all the Halloween candy, decor, activities, and supplies they had. The 2 different sizes of black cauldrons were so awesome I just HAD to come up with a way to use them on TV! I am grateful for Smart & Final’s First Street Brand because I was able to fill those cauldrons up with fun things way less than the name brand.

When my kids saw the haunted Cookie House they all wanted their own! I have decorated Gingerbread Houses for Christmas, but have never thought of a Halloween option! Of course I bought them, and I will use them as a party activity either the weekend before, or as a group activity for the party. I was going to have them replace actually decorating/carving pumpkins, but the pumpkins at Smart & Final were SO much cheaper at the store than the pumpkin patch that we will definitely do BOTH. They also had a few pumpkin carving sets (with stencils) and a light up option!
Also, if you follow me on Instagram you saw how much fun I had with the talking/light-up doorbells- you know I grabbed those!

These large cauldrons were only $7.99!!! I bought mine a couple weeks ago and have been thinking about how to use it for my TV segment. Then last week I was at a different Smart & Final I found these smaller ones.. wait until you see what I did with them! I will be posting my photos and videos after today’s TV segment and I will update this post- I am so excited!!! For very little money I am able to use these as bowls and decor and it looks SOOOO good! last year I did the dry ice in the cauldron and that looks amazing too. The large tubs of ice cream fit in these too (tried it in the store) so it is a great way to serve ice cream out of them too.

CANDY!!! No matter how anyone celebrates (or doesn’t celebrate) Halloween EVERYONE LOVES CANDY!! That is my favorite part. I tend to go overboard buying candy- but there are so many choices!! Smart & Final had large bags of all the usual Hersheys, Mars, Skittles bags- but I love the regular candy aisle because you can find the FUN stuff!! These large Pixy Stix-85 are only $14.99, Pop Rocks, Full Sie Candy Bars, Nerd Ropes, Mike & Ikes, Sour Patch- all the fun things that maybe other houses won’t be handing out- you can find them there. I like the variety boxes of FULL SIZE candy bars – $18.99 for 30 Bars made each bar $.63!!I also bought some of these Welch’s Fruit Snacks for smaller kids and a large tub of Ring Pops-just because they looked FUN!

There were Halloween themed paper plates and napkins (I brought them to the show) and on their regular aisle they have them displayed by color black and orange are available.  There were also Trick-or-Treat reusable bags and Halloween colored baked goods available. I did not feature them, but they also have a variety of Day of the Dead candy and decor items as well!
As Halloween gets closer I will continue to post my deals and finds for you and I hope this gets you thinking and planning on your celebrations!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
