I went to the California State Fair with the kids this weekend and we tried the Rainbow Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, and I thought it was SO COOL!
So of course I was a little freaked out about the sandwich being $5 (times however many kids wanted one-including ME)
With the help of $5 Monday at Raley’s-I grabbed a couple bags of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese and some Buttermilk Bread ($1.99) and for $7 I made Rainbow Grilled Cheese for EVERYONE! I felt a lot better about that!
It was very simple. I just divided the cheese in bowls, added color (10 drops of food coloring) I really wish I had PINK, but next time. Then filled the sandwiches and grilled them up!
It was so simple and fun-plus really cool to look at while you are eating! You can use fancier cheese and one kid couldn’t get over the fact that we were using mozzarella cheese for a grilled cheese, but I thought it came out delicious (and under budget!)
I made this quick video (actually my daughter made the video) to show how simple it was. As you can see I am NOT a Pinterest type person. I keep it real-and I use paper plates!
